Syntax
Syntax
Although traditional grammarians and classical rhetoricians, focusing mainly on prescribed rules of agreement, case endings and the sequential order of subject-verb-object, often treated syntax as a fixed inventory of correct constructions derived from prestigious literary models, modern generative and functional linguists, who developed formal models of hierarchical phrase structure and dependency relations in the twentieth century while investigating universal principles across typologically diverse languages, demonstrated that the combinatorial rules governing word order, constituency and movement operations constituted a dynamic, psychologically real system of knowledge, a perspective that later scholars, valuing explanatory adequacy and cross-linguistic evidence, regarded as central theoretical inquiry, not merely a catalogue of surface patterns or arbitrary conventions bound to a single language tradition.

Although
Although 子句到 models 結束,骨架是 grammarians and rhetoricians treated syntax。
focusing mainly on ... 跳過它,骨架就是 grammarians and rhetoricians treated syntax。
as a fixed inventory 結構:
treated ... as a fixed inventory of ...
who developed ... across typologically diverse languages
demonstrated that 子句:
that 子句的骨架是 the combinatorial rules ... constituted a dynamic, psychologically real system of knowledge。
a perspective 同位語:
not merely ...
